ASHIATSU BAREFOOT MASSAGE

What is Ashiatsu Massage

Translation

In the Japanese language, "Ashi" translates to foot and

"Atsu" into pressure. Ashiatsu Massage is a barefoot massage modality utilizing western massage techniques to improve the client's postural alignment, range of motion, muscle responsiveness, and overall health and well-being. The barefoot massage is sequenced with a unique set of strokes, all of which are designed to make this deep therapeutic massage a seamless dance. Parallel bars are above the massage table and used by the therapist for balance, support, and client safety.

Deep Bodywork

Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage is considered a DEEP compressive form of bodywork - without discomfort. While utilizing gravity to perform barefoot massage, the therapist can apply up to 100% of their body weight in pressure. Gravity allows the therapist to provide the guest with consistent deep pressure throughout the treatment.

Rhythmic Dance

The pressure is monitored throughout the session and easily adjusted for the client's comfort.

Ashiatsu is not a No Pain, No Gain massage - the safety and well-being of the client is our foremost concern.

The treatment feels like a rhythmic deep tissue dance- with broad, pressured flowing strokes - with no pain. The therapy is widely known to relieve pain in the back and hips and is particularly popular with athletes. Deep Tissue Without the Discomfort

Using the foot as a comprehensive massage tool, the therapist can utilize their body weight and gravity to deliver up to 3x deeper pressure than traditional hands-on treatments.

Broad movements along the entire spine create space and increase blood flow to the area.

The spine can be a source of pain and discomfort for many.

ASHIATSU - 24-48 HOURS AFTER CARE

STAY HYDRATED!

This will help to flush out your system and help with the recovery process.

STRETCH

Stretching or practicing yoga will help prevent the delayed onset of muscle soreness.

COLD & HEAT THERAPY

Using heat for soreness or stiffness after treatment. Or cold for any possible pain or inflammation.

REST

Take time to rest and recover after the treatment.

ASHIATSU - 24-48 HOURS AVOID- WHAT NOT TO DO

DAY OFF

Limit any exercises or contact sports that involve excursions. Ex: Kickboxing, baseball, CrossFit.

LIGHT WEIGHTS

Avoid lifting heavy objects. If you are required to lift heavy use the lumbar brace.

ALCOHOL

Drinking alcohol within 24 hours of treatment. Drinking will cause a large build-up of lactic acid, which will create additional soreness or stiffness. 

DON'T BE A COUCH POTATO

Try to avoid sitting for long periods of time
